About Rebecca King

b. 1986

Rebecca currently resides in San Antonio, Texas with her husband and daughter.

Her artworks are marked by their evocative nature and interwoven layers of color.

The inclusion of water introduces a captivating interplay of effects within each painting, infusing it with a unique character of organic forms. Her creative process explores inherent shapes and human emotion resulting in an intuitive and meditative experience.

Within the depths of layered color, viewers are led to lose and rediscover themselves amidst forms that playfully loop and interweave across the canvas.

By incorporating water onto canvas it is unable to be fully controlled, yet it must be guided intentionally. Creating a synergistic harmony within her art practice as she works with it and the natural pathways it creates on canvas.

Each painting weaving a poetic narrative of our connection with God, nature and each other using water as the conduit.

Rebecca's art career began early on in life where she found herself inspired by the scenic landscapes and vibrant flora of her local Texas Hill Country surroundings.
She discovered a natural synergy between art and design, leading her to pursue a formal education in interior design and architecture at the University of Texas, in San Antonio.
She then spent four years immersed in the realm of commercial design at architecture firms, where she contributed to the design of public interiors, while further developing her vision for her art. Throughout this period, Rebecca remained committed to painting, taking on commissions and unveiling new collections while her style evolved.
The rigid confines of the architectural world left her yearning for creative liberation. Using her art as a means of breaking free from these constraints, she transformed her canvas into a conduit for her emotions and intuition. Her art became an act of resilience, with each layer capturing organic and whimsical forms, appearing to defy structure and avoiding any harsh angles or lines,

Artist Bio

Her art career continued to evolve and eventually, she made the decision to leave behind the architectural world and fully embrace her calling as a professional artist.
Her signature fluid style emerged from this transformative journey, a tool she employs daily to unearth concealed layers of herself and share with viewers a universal thread that binds us. Through her art, she seeks to impart feelings of peace, resilience, freedom, hope, and strength.
Rebecca's paintings are full of surreal, joyful, and expressionistic forms. They gracefully defy rigidity and capture ephemeral moments in time.

"As an artist, I am perpetually in search of something within the act of creation. To recapture memories, nurture dreams, and envision the future. My painting practice serves as my compass to uncover the unseen, allowing me to establish a connection with myself and others through the expressive language of my work"
